white flags of incompetence
Unfortunately, I must admit temporary defeat in my attempt to build a linuxfromscratch system at least until a proper test rig can be acquired. With certain compilation fazes of the setup consuming upwards of 15 hours I came to realize the tediousness of debugging even one issue and the resulting wasted time if irreversible. I found that my first attempt had modified important configurations on the host system, which caused consistant problems throughout my builds.
A word of advice: if you plan on building a linuxfromscratch system on an old 400mhz junker with 64mb ram…don’t. It will drive you crazy. I’ll give her one last shot as a dedicated Smoothwall before flossing my butt with her giant IDE cables.
