php5
I have taken up a new path in my celestial passion for computers proving to be more demanding than anything else I’ve learned so far. Programming….
With little knowledge of computer languages, apart from a one-semester Qbasic class I took in high school, I am green as can be in this area. Learning systems and administration has been so much fun but somewhat simple to learn with enough time and focus. Programming is a different beast. It’s the math problem that eludes you after hours of fierce brain contortion.
I’m a rather impatient person who likes instant gratification in my studies and oddly find the challenge of this task to be equally as gratifying. I chose to start with PHP 5, a language based on C++ with a very similar syntax. PHP was a good fit due to its’ inherent web design benefits. My designs have suffered structurally from a lack of a dynamic framework, which would make content and site changes so much more clean and efficient.
Web design was a partial motivation but I was also struck with the desire to write my own software at some point. I think it would be really powerful to have the knowledge to build custom apps that fit my personal and business needs without being forced into using mainstream stuff. PHP is a good base to start from, as transitioning into C/C++ would be fairly simple.
